Females fit for digitalisation
Gender equality was seen as an important issue regarding new job profiles. To achieve a comprehensive guideline for gender equality, recommendations were developed in the workshops: (a) Exchange with DigiTeRRI partners on their findings on gender equality or gender mainstreaming – best practices; (b) Identification and analysis of special offers in the territory of Styria with respect to transition to digitalisation (initiatives, training, gender equality plan); (c) Highlighting the gaps – what is needed, giving advice to companies and public authorities; (d) Deriving recommendations.

Educational goals in the STEM area are clearly defined and communicated between the educational levels and institutions involved. Specifically, attention is paid to the transition phase between AHS and the technical university. For this purpose, a networking conference with representatives from both areas was organised. The university’s expectations regarding the educational level of first-year students in the STEM area (specifically regarding the subjects mathematics, physics, chemistry, and computer science) are to be communicated and compared with the actual current conditions of the upper secondary school. The aim is to jointly identify possible measures to improve the transition between AHS and the university.

To support digital competencies from kindergarten and primary school age onwards, a teaching-learning laboratory operates as a collaboration between Montanuniversitaet Leoben and the Private University College of Teacher Education Augustinum. The action, (1) develops a workshop on the topic of robotics/coding for the age group of 5 to 11-year-olds, and (2) extends the existing workshops (topics “raw materials/salts”, “plastics”, “metals (incl. magnetism)”) by experiment stations with digital tools. Playful teaching of digital skills to pupils as well as to teachers in vocational training and education. Additional partners are brought on board for the projects, e.g., HTL Leoben and other educational institutions, and companies. Dissemination is planned in cooperation with the Directorate of Education.

Awareness of the Styrian Roadmap
The Styrian roadmap grounds on pillars of the various stakeholders gathered in roadmapping workshops. The developed framework on roadmap domains was applied to the Styrian roadmap. The outcomes of the roadmap workshops revealed that goals and measures for all defined roadmap domains were found. The result follows the ideas of the RRI approach because for territorial change of the Styrian ecosystem democratic decision-making was engaged. The comprehensive view of various stakeholder groups led to anticipative, responsible, diverse and reflective actions for the transition to a digital territory. The results were documented in a roadmap which was distributed to about 500 regional stakeholders.

A platform that respects the ethical aspects of our society in the region and provides us with the information we need via depersonalized data in real-time. It warns us of floods or avalanches and helps us to fulfil our duties as citizens and guides us through official regulations. A trusted platform for the whole region.

Cross Regional Event – B2B Networking event on industry and digitalisation
Stakeholders from Värmland, Styria, and Grand Est were invited to a one-day online event. Before the event, the participants can give information about themselves and their interests on the event homepage. In Styria, we had lectures about the digital transformation of small businesses, and support through digitalisation for businesses. The program included the introduction of the DigiTeRRI project, the territories, company partners and the research organisations. For the digital event, a registration platform was set up, on which participating organisations could provide their profile in advance and the individual exchange meetings on digitalisation could be performed more effectively. The European Enterprise network was also engaged.

Integration of RRI concept in the future European Digital Innovation Hub
The European Commission launched the Digital Europe Program, a funding programme focused on bringing digital technology to businesses, citizens and public administrations. A part of the call focused on the setting up of one European Digital Innovation Hub per European region. Grand Est region is a candidate, to accelerate the digitalisation of industrial SMEs the program focused on “test before investment, training, funding and networking”. The integration of RRI and especially Inclusion will be included in different training courses and schools’ “non-traditional training” (second chance schools…) proposed in the future catalogue of training of the EDIH. Considered one-stop shops for the digital transformation of industries, the eDIHs allow companies from one territory to intervene in another European region in a simplified way. The activities are fully integrated into the ambitions of the regional digital resource centre “Grand Est Transformation Numérique”.

SMEs, civil society, universities, and research institutions, among others, need to embrace digitalisation and use technological tools. Nevertheless, the tools and methodologies to look for the right information are sometimes unknown. COVID-19 and fake news have revealed the importance of anticipation and the gathering of good strategic information. The objective is that information search tools are known by the Q-helix stakeholders so that they can adapt to digitalisation. An information meeting was held to show different research tools and feedback.

ICE IAMOT Conference: scientific/industrial/institutional meetings
IAMOT Conference, hold in June 2022, is an international event which brings together researchers, companies and institutions. It aims to explore new ways for technology management and innovation communities to interact and come up with innovative solutions to the critical global issues of our time. Several debates were planned on different themes such as digitalization, innovation in local authorities and RRI. Papers from researchers were also scheduled, following a call for papers. This action also plays a major role in terms of communication because many media were mobilized. Moreover, the best papers will be published in international journals such as the international journal on responsible innovation. And a specific workshop was dedicated to the presentation of the approach and results from DigiTeRRI.

Est’ival des Sciences Event
“EST’ival des Sciences consists of a tour of scientific culture events in rural areas. One of the main objectives is to reduce inequalities in access to scientific culture between urban and rural areas. The main target groups are teenagers (14+) and adults, regardless of their level of education. Scientists from public research laboratories in the region are guided by a scientific mediator to create a friendly atmosphere and make the content accessible to all. These are not conferences, the format is interactive, fun and based on exchanges between the participants and the scientists to participate in the creation of a science-society link. The special event during EST’ival des Sciences in partnership with DigiTeRRI was held in June 2022 on 3D/4D printing.”
